A. Any home with copper wiring built-in, since some of the older houses built before 1950 might have older wiring, it may not work in these instances..

A. Yes, HomePlug signal will have no problem passing through circuit breakers but not through power transformers.

A. No, HomePlug operates in a different frequency band than other power line control devices and can co-exist with technologies as X-10, CEBus, and LONworks.

To prevent this happen, please enable the 56-bit DES security encryption on your HomePlug Device. To do that, you must run the HomePlug Configuration Utility on each HomePlug device in your power line network. This will only allow computers with the same security password to be able to receive information.

A. Yes, HomePlug devices can be plugged onto extension cords, but please note that this will reduce the PowerLine signal strength of the connection. Sometime it may even reduce it to zero! Please use a wall outlet if it’s possible. HomePlug devices do not work with UPS at this time.

A. Yes, PE 902-EBx, PE 903-EB, and PE 909-UI works with AC input 100 – 240V.

A. Yes. However, it’s not recommended to mix HomePlug units with other brands as the internal board may be slightly different. As long as all HomePlug devices under the HomePlug 1.0 Specs, then they should be OK.

A. All our HomePlug devices have lighting protection build-in. It will only cause the internal board of the HomePlug device to short circuit. However, it will not damage your computer or anything plug in with it.

A. Yes. Because HomePlug Ethernet Bridge is a fully plug N play device, no driver installation require.

A:
· Plug them both into the same power outlet, and then make sure the LED light on the units light up. If the lights do not turn on try another power plug.
· Make sure that the units are not plugged into a power surge protector, or an extension cord (sometimes the signal cannot be sent through these devices).
· Power-cycle the units by unplugging the units and waiting a couple of minutes and plug the units back in.
· Check the encryption on the HomePlug units. To change the encryption, you need to connect them directly to the computer. The default encryption on all the GigaFast HomePlug units is “HomePlug”.

16. Q: What is the difference between a Bridge and a Node on PE 902-EB?
A: The PE 902-EB can operate in two modes: Node and Bridge. As a Node, only one computer can be connected to the PE 902-EB and driver must be installed from the setup CD to your computer. As a bridge, a switch or router is connected to the PE 902 BE and other computers are connected to the switch or router. This mode does NOT require driver installation. A same password HomePlug network can only allow two PE 902-EBs to operate as Bridge mode at any given time. How ever, there can be any number of PE 902-EBs operating as Nodes mode.
Bridge Mode:
The following HomePlug product can be used as a Bridge:
PE902-EB, PE902-EBx, PE902-EBc and PE903-EB
Bridge mode is set automatically when you connect these products to a device. For example: router, switch, hub, etc.

A: PE 902-EB Node driver will only support Win98 / ME /2000 /XP. If you have any another O/S then the above, then you might have to run it in Bridge mode.

How do ensure if you are running a Node mode, if you are plug in your PE 902-EB into a Win98 SE/ ME/ 2000/ XP. Please run the setup CD again, make sure you click Yes button, when see the screen shot on the above FAQ.

A: This is the switch button for you to switch that Ethernet port from Normal to Uplink. When you plug a Ethernet cable into it, if you see the green LED on the right upper corner of your Ethernet port, then you don’t have do nothing. Otherwise, push one time to make sure the green LED is light up. On the second version of PE 902-EB, you don’t see a switch button on the right hand side that because the build-in Ethernet port is the auto uplink Ethernet port.

Case:
After install the HomePlug utility on win98se/ME workstation, when you restart pc again, “winplcman.exe is run” you get a fatal exception error on a blue screen. PC is hanging won’t log into widows normally.
Fix:
This is a common problem with Win 9X family. What you have to do is uninstall the drivers or when your computer is first booting up, press F7 and boot in safe mode. Now that you’re in safe mode you have to right click my computer and go to properties and click on the device manager tab. Then scroll down to network adapter -> Disable all adapters relate to VPN or AOL adapter Then after disabling restart your computer and boot up normally and it should work fine after that.
